Jesus did not say save ourselves. We could not, for we were incapable of freeing the world of adversarial ways. He came with simple good news which no man could build a religion around without perverting it. That good news was that the war between God and the powers of the fallen elohim and adversarial mankind was coming to an end and God would reign over Heaven and in earth. What did man do? Neglected God's coming triumph and turned around and made it about ourselves and what was in it for us, done in true self centered fashion which of course had made us adversarial to the will of God all along. Man even did go ahead and build a religion around different good news, based on a man who went independent after seeing no future for himself in the Sanhedrin. Man as a result built yet another institution modeled on the world with all its rituals and human introspect rather than the truth Jesus said would be the foundation His church. A church which would be built upon truth only from the Father and not from the fallen 'angels' or the minds of man. Something man found of no use in it's original form to their plans to create yet another government over the masses. How could they, when Jesus taught man would directly govern ourselves no more?
