No Longer Following

When I first came on this site there were a couple of people that I really liked. I saw a place where I could become one of their "Followers". Not really being a BIG social media person (No longer having "friends" on Facebook, or owning a cell phone), I didn't really understand what that meant. I thought I would get notices of when they posted if I was their follower, rather than having to click on their avatar to find their latest postings. Seeing I have not been doing the latter, I really don't see myself as their follower, so to rightly set the record straight, I have made the change to no longer be listed as their follower. I sent a PM to one, explaining this, as I do see them quite a bit on this site. Do you really follow, keep up on, search out all the posts of these ones that this site says you are following? Do you need to make some changes too? Does it even matter? Thought I would just throw this out there.
