My Lips Not Sealed

Saturday, December 13, 2008, 7:13 a.m. – The Lord began with this song:

Jesus Giveth Us the Victory / A. B. Simpson

There’s a battle raging in the heavenly places,
Sin and death and sickness with Satan leading on;
With the hosts of earth and hell arrayed against us,
How in all our weakness shall the fight be won?

Faith can hear our Captain calling from the heavens,
“Courage, brother, I have overcome for you;
Fear not, I am with you, I will never fail you;
Trusting in My promise you shall conquer too.”

We are lead by One who never lost a battle,
And our adversary is a conquered foe;
We are more than conquerors through our Captain’s triumph;
Let us shout the victory as we onward go.

Let us take the victory over Satan’s kingdom,
Over sickness, sorrow, self, and sin;
Let us bear the banner o’er the lands of darkness,
Till the foes last stronghold we for Christ shall win.

Jesus giveth us the victory.
He who overcame on Calvary,
Overcomes again in you and me.
Hallelujah! Jesus gives the victory!

I woke twice from dreams in the night. The first one was about a person who was mentally handicapped. The second one was about a divided people. The Lord only brought the first one to my recall:

THE DREAM: This dream was about a mentally handicapped young man (adult or teenager). His mother had to work during the day to support or to help support the family. So, that left the young man home without adult supervision, though he may have had a sister at home. The young man was then left on his own to wander about in public. He was considered a public nuisance by some people. These people conspired against him to have him examined by a psychiatrist and then to lock him away.

I could see that this young man was relatively intelligent and capable to be on his own, but that his main problem seemed to be his tendency to run about in the city. I’m not sure who I am in the dream, but when the psychiatrist showed up at the house, I was there, and when he asked his first question of the young man, I told him it was a stupid question, because it was.

That part of the dream faded out and then I was with the young man in some kind of public place. We had to go down a set of stairs to get there. Then he ran off ahead of me. This appeared to be some kind of offices and it had a feeling that it was a government run facility of some kind. END

As soon as I finished typing that dream, the Lord gave me this song:

I Will Not Go Quietly / Steven Curtis Chapman

I was born with an angel whispering in my ear
Telling me sacred secrets that God wanted me to hear
And I have lived to tell the mysteries I've been told
And even when they tell me it's my time to go
No I will not, No I will not
Not go quietly
No I will not, No I will not
Not go quietly no, no, Not go quietly no, no
Not go quietly
These things I tell, they are much truer
Than the heart of he who speaks
Even so, this humble servant
Can not help but talk about his King
So I will sing 'cause I can't hold back the song
I shout and scream until God takes me home
So how can I keep silent?
So how can I not speak?
And tell about the Savior
Who has set this prisoner free?

Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Psalm 40:

I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.

4 Blessed is the man
who makes the LORD his trust,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
5 Many, O LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done.
The things you planned for us
no one can recount to you;
were I to speak and tell of them,
they would be too many to declare.
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but my ears you have pierced;
burnt offerings and sin offerings
you did not require.

7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come—
it is written about me in the scroll.
8 I desire to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart."
9 I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly;
I do not seal my lips,
as you know, O LORD.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and salvation.
I do not conceal your love and your truth
from the great assembly.

11 Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD;
may your love and your truth always protect me.
12 For troubles without number surround me;
my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see.
They are more than the hairs of my head,
and my heart fails within me.
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me;
O LORD, come quickly to help me.
14 May all who seek to take my life
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.

15 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
be appalled at their own shame.
16 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation always say,
"The LORD be exalted!"
17 Yet I am poor and needy;
may the Lord think of me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
O my God, do not delay.

My Understanding: No matter what our circumstances in life may be, God is the victor! Jesus has overcome the world, Satan, hell, sickness, etc. Our Lord does not promise us that we will not go through difficult times. He does not promise us a life free from trials, temptations, attacks of Satan, etc. But, he does promise us that he will never leave us or forsake us and that we can be victors through the cross of Christ even in the seemingly crippling circumstances of our lives.

This young man in this dream apparently was born with a handicap that made him a social outcast and thus there were people who wanted to lock him away. And, at the end of the dream, he apparently ends up in some type of government facility. Yet, even when our freedoms have been taken away from us, if we are believers in Jesus Christ, then our Lord will go with us wherever we go and he will give us the victory, if we put our faith and trust in him.

I loved the song, “I Will Not Go Quietly,” because it expresses how I feel about my faith in the Lord and my witness for him. Even if we should be locked away, we don’t have to go quietly. We don’t have to stop speaking for our Lord Jesus Christ.
