Monday, December 08, 2008, 10:34 p.m. – The Lord put this song in my heart again, “Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes”. It is a song he is singing to his church, asking us to drink to him alone with our eyes and he will pledge back to us with his. The song is about unrequited love. I believe this represents how our Lord wants to have an exclusive relationship with us, how he sent us his son Jesus, the Rose of Sharon, and the gift of salvation, but we, the church, have for the most part given them back unused, unwanted and/or neglected. I also see how this applies to the Lord sending us his messengers at the end of time and how many people will just send them back and will disregard the words spoken in the name of Jesus. The Lord is calling out those who will chose him alone; those who when given a choice to drink the nectar of false gods will choose instead not to sup with the gods; not to change our loyalties to God Almighty for anyone else.
Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes / Ben Jonson
Drink to me, only, with thine eyes,
And I will pledge with mine ;
Or leave a kiss but in the cup,
And I'll not look for wine.
The thirst that from the soul doth rise,
Doth ask a drink divine:
But might I of Jove's nectar sup,
I would not change for thine…
And, then the Lord put this song in my heart and mind:
Run To You / Twila Paris
Faster now than ever, I run to You
Now I know You better, I run to You
I am a little older now, You know it's true
Maybe a little wiser, too, I run to You
And I can see deeper than I did before
I do believe, never have I been so sure
That I need You every minute, every day
That I need You more than I could ever say
Ooh, I run to You
Ooh, what else would I do?
I run to You, ooh, I run to You…
And, he gave me this one next which greatly encouraged my heart:
Arise My Love / Newsong
Not a word was heard at the tomb that day.
Just shuffling of soldiers feet as they guarded the grave.
One day, two days, three days had past.
Could it be that Jesus breathed His last?
Could it be that His Father had forsaken him?
Turned his back on his son despising our sin.
All hell seemed to whisper "Just forget Him, He's dead."
Then the Father looked down to his son and he said..
Arise, My love. Arise, My love.
The grave no longer has a hold on you
No more death's sting; No more suffering
Arise...Arise...my love.
The Earth trembled and the tomb began to shake,
And like lightening from Heaven the stone was rolled away.
And as dead men the guards they all stood there in fright
As the power of love displayed its might
Then suddenly a melody filled the air
Riding wings of wind, it was everywhere
The words all creation had been longing to hear
The sweet sound of victory, so loud and clear…
Sin, where are your shackles?
Death, where is your sting?
Hell has been defeated.
The grave could not hold the king.
Arise, My love. Arise, My love.
The grave no longer has a hold on you
No more death's sting; No more suffering
Arise....Arise....Arise
And, then he gave me a reprise of Run to you:
Ooh, I run to You
Ooh, what else would I do?
I run to You, ooh, I run to You…
Then, the Lord directed me to read Psalm 34:
I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 My soul will boast in the LORD;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the LORD with me;
let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from speaking lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken.
21 Evil will slay the wicked;
the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The LORD redeems his servants;
no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.
I read vv1-4, but I could not get even half-way through v.4 before I broke down crying in thankfulness to Almighty God for delivering me from all my fears and for the peace in knowing that those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
Then, he gave me this song: My Tribute / Andre Crouch
How can I say thanks for the things
You have done for me?
Things so undeserved yet You gave
To prove Your love for me
The voices of a million angels
Could not express my gratitude
All that I am, and ever hope to be
I owe it all to Thee
To God be the glory, to God be the glory
To God be the glory for the things He has done
With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory for the things He has done
Just let me live my life and
Let it be pleasing Lord to Thee
And if I gain any praise, let it go to Calvary
With His blood He has saved me
With His power He has raised me
To God be the glory for the things He has done
