  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Morning Reflection

"Listen kids you have to read your Bible daily, you spend so much time on your phones, computers, and who knows what else but you don't have time to give God like 5 minutes of your day!"

Those were the words that I would hear almost every week at Teens For Christ, a youth organization out of Lima, OH which is dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus to teenagers worldwide. As a volunteer and fellow leader at the Teens For Christ Celina, OH chapter, I would always disagree with how the two directors Steve and Justin who would would every week on a Tuesday night just shove the Bible down everyone's throat in fact many teens that I talked to felt even less motivated to read the word after that. Time and time again Justin and Steve would complain about how teens aren't getting into their Bible's to read as if somehow Sola Scriptura was the only way to go about living a Christian life, although they weren't wrong about distractions. To me I felt and was probably the only one who put the sole emphasis on a personal relationship with God and as you engage more into a relationship with him then you will have desires to reach out and want to read his word at least that's how it was for me when I first got saved. However once chapter ended and activities at my own church started to slow down I started to feel rather separate from the Lord because I wasn't engaging with him in my personal time instead it all went towards tv and the internet.

It really wasn't until Annual Training with the Army that I started to actually get closer to the Lord because I was in a place where I didn't have any distractions in my life and I would sit in my bunk and just listen to Christian music for a couple hours and eventually I noticed my attitude and outlook on life started improving. Not only that but I met and started hanging out with other people who I found out were Christians in my unit and we started to go to Bible study hosted by Chaplain Barner and it was delightful to enjoy the joy of the Lord. The truth is that in life it is so easy to get distracted by the things of this world like video games, movies, parties, bars, etc. that we forget the most important thing in life and that is to take time out of the day and focus on God. So whatever it is that brings you close to God whether its reading the Bible, listening to anointed music, or watching preachers on tv don't forget to make time out of your day and engage in his presence because you will be amazingly blessed.

"Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do." - Joshua 1:8
