It was bound to happen at some point in the training...I got sick. I was doing so well too. I didn't end up missing that much running, I just hate being sick. My 13-year-old son gave me his cold. I started feeling bad on Monday and by Tuesday I was feeling awful. I had to take Tuesday and Wednesday off. I forced myself to run on Thursday and Friday, on the treadmill. Then I was all set to run my long run outside on Sunday and then I woke up to high winds. It was really windy. I didn't want to battle the winds and run fifteen miles while still recovering from the cold. I ended up running fifteen miles on the treadmill in my garage. Two and a half hours of staring at a poster of a beach scene was not a lot of fun. Thank goodness I had an iPod to listen to. I think I've heard every song on my iPod during this training...and I have a lot of songs on my iPod. After the run I took my dog for a 2 mile walk (what was I thinking?). I'm also really thankful that we have a hot tub. I spent a lot of time in it after the long run. My dogs spent the entire time bringing me tennis balls to throw for them. I hope I remain well for the rest of my training.
