I've got some catching up to do. I've already completed both weeks 8 and 7, I've just been forgetting to post my training log in this blog. I'm growing quite tired or running, not so much physically tired but mentally tired. It's hard to keep putting in the long miles and I can tell that the last six weeks of training are going to be an incredible challenge, both mentally and physically. I'm staying injury-free and well, finally over the last cold/flu that I had.
Spent some of the midweek runs on the treadmill because I just didn't feel like getting outside. In week eight we went down to Santa Monica and ran the bike path along the coast. It was very intertaining running through Venice Beach and "people watching". I don't think there is anywhere in the U.S. as good for people watching as Venice Beach. I thought the bike path went for twenty miles, but discovered that it ended in Marina Del Rey and we had to run on the road for awhile. The run was great until mile 14 and then the last two miles were brutal. I don't think I drank enough (it was warmer than I thought) and I got a bit dehydrated. My calves started cramping up and I really got a bad case of "why did I sign up for this thing---I'll never finish". After 16 miles I couldn't imagine having to go ten more. Everyone tells me I'll get the adrenaline rush during the marathon and it will be much easier than the long training runs. I sure hope so.
