Love: unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: as (1) : the fatherly concern of God for humankind (2) : brotherly concern for others
Judgment: a formal utterance of an authoritative opinion; a divine sentence or decision
Condemn: to say in a strong and definite way that someone or something is bad or wrong
All definitions from Merriam-Webster.
I picked the above definitions based on the context of what I'm about to write.
I see a lot of people who declare that they are simply expressing Christ's love in this forum. I am not talking about everyone who says this, but a select few that shall remain nameless. There is no love in your writing.
It is often said by these people that the reason they call people "abomination", "pervert", "freak", etc. is because of concern for our souls and that is the love they are referring to. I don't agree and I never will.
Love is benevolent concern. To use such hateful language is not characteristic of love at all. It is characteristic of judgment and condemnation. It is hateful, hurtful and the vitriol drips from your posts.
The ignorance that accompanies these statements is expected.
To make it worse, I have been seeing the terms "[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]" and "[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]" a little too often from these types of "loving" people. If you don't realize that these words have been popularized by the porn industry, it's time to wake up. These terms are, by their nature, hateful, offensive and dehumanizing.
The worse insult I have seen thrown around these forums, though, is the description of trans* people as "it". This is beyond despicable and there is no excuse for using "it" to describe someone. If you aren't comfortable using the preferred pronouns of a person you haven't and probably never will meet, find another term. A trans person is not an "it". To use such a term shows that you believe we are less than human.
No, I am not saying you must embrace trans people and the trans community and agree with everything that we are and do. Insulting and demeaning us is your right as Freedom of Speech. Treating us as less than human is your right. Expecting to be seen as a paragon of virtue and Godliness for doing so is not going to happen. You are showing nothing less than a total lack of compassion, courtesy and, yes, love.
"I'll respect your opinion as long as your opinion doesn't disrespect my existence" - thescentofsouls on Tumblr.
Encouraging violence toward a group of people, especially since the context of the post I saw today called for violence against children, I utterly without care. To the person who wrote this, should you ever see it, you are a horrible person. Yes, I am judging and condemning you. Not for your existence, but for your words. And yes, I reported you.
After seeing multiple hateful posts around here, I often question why I bother attempting to convince these people of the reality of the existence of trans* people. I even wonder why I bother staying a member of this forum at times.
The only reason I do is because there are people around here who do treat others with compassion, caring and actual love. If not for them, I would be gone from here, never to return.
