(after reading Matthew 15:21-28)
Sometimes it feels like I’m dished out crumbs,
but they say Heaven harbors no bums.
Lord, lift me in these circumstances.
Cover my heart with your worthiness. *
Cause Lazarus rejoices in Heaven,
although he craved where the rich crumbs lay.
This makes me feel sheepish and selfish;
gratitude should have a banquet taste.
Others prosper like it’s fine dining--no cares. **
My status impresses like plasticware.
Lord, lift me in these circumstances.
Cover me with your worthiness.
Oh, help us to see our mustard seed trust
as more than abundant to bring
refreshing confidence, Pentecost,
manna meeting all of our needs.
Let me hear you say, “No greater faith shown” ***
is found in what, in You, I chase!
Like the Canaanite lady, I’ll embrace salvation.
Even crumbs heal in Love’s endless Age.
