Yesterday, I woke up around my usual time and went out to the patio with my morning coffee and meeting with the Lord. I love our early morning meetings just before dawn. Except for the singing of the birds it is calm and peaceful in the garden
and there is nothing to draw me away from our visit.
I had been having a couple of rough days and I was talking to God about them, praying for renewed peace in every situation and the most comforting feeling came over me. God reminded me of something, that too often I reflect on the past hurts in my life and forget the wonderful things. He is always sooo right, I certainly have a bad habit of doing so. But yesterday I made a conscious decision to work hard to counter any negative memories with the wonderful ones that God has given me. As I did this a beautiful, yet hilarious memory came to mind.
When my brother, sister and I were small our parents always took us to the mountains for vacation. We used to stay in the old type motor- motels, the ones that look like little cabins. This
particular year the one we stayed in had an outdoor
pool! My brother was probably around 10 years old and I was around 7, my sister was close to 2. If any of you have been in the mountains on the East Coast, then you know the afternoons in late October can be pretty chilly. Well my brother and I worried mama and daddy some kinda bad to let us get into that pool. Like good parents they tried to reason with us about all the reasons why we shouldn't, but eventually gave into our begging ( doesn't Father God do that, when He tells us what is best and we still go our own way, doesn't He give us over to our own desires and the consequences that follow?)
Oh my goodness, my brother and I dawned our bathing suits and jumped right into that frigid, ice water almost losing our breath! As I remembered this I couldn't help but laugh out loud, as I thought of the shock that must have been on our faces. I remember how blue we turned in just a matter of seconds, we couldn't wait to get out of that dreadful pool! And as we climbed out there stood mama and daddy arms opened holding warm towels to cover us with.....Thank you Father God, for mama and daddy!
Yes, I will remember and cherish the wonderful memories!!
