I had planned on posting in here every day which just never happened.
I think I posted that I was struggling at work, I got a few warnings and I had one chance left. If I did any work and it was on the live system and it wasn't working 100% then I was out. The inevitable happened and I made a mistake.
I don't think I was too stressed about what would happen because I believed that that was where God wanted me and He would work the situation the way He wanted to.
That morning I got an idea of my boss taking me on as a contractor so I would only be paid for work that I did and I was naive enough to believe that I had come up with the idea all on my own
. I earnestly prayed that my boss would agree with my idea instead of firing me. Later that morning he approached me about him taking me on as a contractor before I had even said a word so God was definitely working in that situation
. I was sold on the idea and had peace about it.
That's basically what I've done for the last two months, I've had a few things on so I wasn't able to do his work as fast as I should have but I finished the first module last night and I eagerly await the next module. I am also waiting rather impatiently for somebody in London who wants me to do a test project for him and if it works out then he'll take me on on a long term basis as a contractor which is pretty exciting.
At the moment until the end of October I have a full day contract position where I swap credit card machines. Its nice in that it will bring in some money for me and its really easy work. I have to travel quite a bit around the city but I invested in a GPS which has helped so much, I get lost very easily.
Its hard not to be a bit concerned about not finding more work but I believe this is what God wants me to do and I believe He will provide me with work but I need to look for it and hopefully He will show me the best places to look.
That's my work update.
My nephew turned 18 months the other day and he is so gorgeous!
I've got a few things to do for myself, one is create a database in Access for my church's members records. I want to find open source programs that do the same and hopefully more than Powerpoint, its just a matter of googling which I haven't got round to doing.
I want to learn graphic design as a hobby to see if I'm any good with it. Some people think I'm creative and I like doing crafty things but I'm not too sure if I'll be good at it.
A venture that has been on my mind for quite a while is to open an online craft shop. I'm making progress with, namely by reading books about opening businesses so I get as much knowledge as possible. I have a bit of capital but I want to register my business and open a bank account first before starting to buy stock. I want to try selling on a south african ebay type site and ebay itself. I want to have my own online shop too though.
I have a friend who is going to design my logo for me, I'm excited to see what she comes up with.
My church is really doing well, we have a young couple who started in January and they are doing so much. We had a holiday club (Vacation Bible School) in the holidays and it went off really well. We now have a youth group going which is great because we've never had many young people and a children's group is starting this Friday.
We still don't have a Young Adults group which I feel we need so I'm taking it into my own hands and trying to start one up. I can't expect my minister to do everything.
I spoke to one guy who's keen and there's a girl who I still need to speak to who I'm hoping will be keen. We've chatted once at church and we got on well so I'll be pleased if we become friends. I might be able to get one of my friends who doesn't come to my church to join us at whatever events we plan.
My friend got me to start chatting to a school friend of hers who she thinks I'll get along well with. We've been sending messages on Facebook and we seem to have a lot in common, he's a very passionate Christian.
I think that's a long enough update for now, hopefully my next post will not take as long as this one did.
