Oh they all fall like a million raindrops
Falling from a blue sky
Kissin' your cares goodbye
As they all fall like a million pieces
A ticker-tape parade high
And now you're free to fly ...
Having really liked that song for some time now, just because it makesy feel good, it has begun to actually comprehend the meaning behind it, or what Moriah takes for the meaning, anyway.Falling from a blue sky
Kissin' your cares goodbye
As they all fall like a million pieces
A ticker-tape parade high
And now you're free to fly ...
Honestly it thinks a lot of people live defeated "Christian" lives because they exhaust themselves fighting the wrong battle. They try to fight a battle Christ has already won: the battle against sin. Scripture does not tell us to fight this battle. Yes, it tells us to put on the full armor -- so that we may STAND. (Ephesians 6:13). It does tell us to resist the devil -- by submitting to God who gives grace to the humble (those what can admit their helplessness and neediness), and next drawing nigh to God so He will draw nigh to us. (James 4:6-8). But when it comes to actively FIGHTING, the whole counsel of scripture points us to one battle only: to fight the GOOD fight of faith, laying hold of eternal life. How many times do we hear quoted that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, etc. when it comes to our struggles in this world, and yet we still turn around and do just that with ourselves? So often we jump from the common to the epic, from the banal to the mythic, and see the supernatural "enemy" in every hardship we endure in this world, but when we look to ourselves and our lives we try to perfect or improve ourselves by beating the flesh and trying to excise the sin. Scripture does not tell us to approach our lives this way, but to reckon ourselves already dead to sin and alive in Christ (Romans 6:11), regardless of what we SEE in that mirror. That flesh will never be changed until this mortal puts on immortality and this corruption puts on incorruption. The Word tells us in Galatians 5:16 only one guaranteed method for not fulfilling the lusts of the flesh and that bes this: walk in the Spirit.
We don't even need to give up our sins on our own steam. We just need to keep coming to Him and opening ourselves to Him. HE will live in us and in HIM there bes NO sin -- so as He lives in us, our own desires for sin and addictions to it will all fall like a million pieces ... and we'll be free to fly ... kissin' our cares goodbye ....
Buddhists call this attaining the Buddha nature, but as Christians we believe this divine nature resides in Christ, and belongs to us by birthright as His children. Better than just something to believe in and hope for, it bes available right here and now, for the asking. That bes all we need to do bes to ask Him. Ask and we shall receive, so He promises. Seek and we shall find. Knock and it shall be opened. (Matthew 7:8) The written word also promises that He will NOT give a stone for bread nor a scorpion for a fish (Luke 11:11) but NO good gift will He withhold from those that walk uprightly (i.e., that seek Him) (Psalm 84:11), because He bes a good Father.
Bes you all noticing anything different of late? His word bes alive in Moriah. It bes able to share His word again, to pray again, to love and desire God again.
Let it be alive in you too.
p.s. quickest way to tell you've been fighting the wrong battle? the JOY will be missing. so will the PEACE.
