Kill Or Imprison

We try in Christ our flesh to kill
To turn all self to dust
We take, as prisoner selfish will
Make captive wanton lust

Yet flesh remains whilst bodies thrive
Cravings refuse to die
Our selfish will keeps lust alive
And bars the way on high

So still we fight both night and day
Life’s battles never cease
Satan won’t turn and walk away
To leave us serve in peace

The wayward flesh will raise its head
Will dance in lustful bliss
Will sing its song in Satan’s bed
And suffer no remiss

No wanton lust will seek to fall
No flesh can understand
Until Salvation makes His call
Through God’s almighty hand

When higher ground in Christ we seek
The lustful knee bows down
Spirit will make the flesh grow weak
And self give up its crown

With Jesus’ standard flying high
When spiritual man grows strong
Though still in truth the flesh won’t die
It sings a different song

Willing it bows beneath The Sword
Humble it bends the knee
Giving all self to Christ The Lord
The way to life is free…
