Jesus,
At VERY key junctures in my walk.... three exactly, counting today, You have used these three verses to accentuate the passage through to new growth, a new phase or a new ministry....maybe this day marks passage number three. There has been a great wave of your Spirit's presence and a call to service winding through my days these past few months. I never knew that the two words for 'wept' in the Greek here were different, until today, Jesus. This has affected me.

I never knew that the two words for 'wept' in the Greek here were different, until today, Jesus. This has affected me.
Luke 23:27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. 28 But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. 29 For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. 30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. 31 For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
You have used this one with me MANY times in the past 2 decades ! MANY ! It bears the same weeping as the passage you used for me today, from Your Triumphal Entry in Luke 19.
The next two of these are the only two passages in which You weep. I never realized, until today, that You may have chosen these two accounts of Your pain to speak to me. THANK YOU, Jesus. Unfold these passages to me in the months ahead.
John 11:35 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 "Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see, Lord," they replied. 35 Jesus wept. 36 Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"

This silent weeping of John 11:35 is vastly different from the loud wailing of Luke 19:41. The word for the silent weeping, where tears spill from Your eyes without a sound, this is the perfect image of the dream I had when I was six. I didn't know You made solitary use of this one Greek word for it, repeated nowhere else in the New Testament, until today.... that dream was DECADES ago. Thanks for sharing this with me. You wept for Lazarus' death. A death that occurred so that You WOULD BE RECOGNIZED AS FROM THE FATHER ! ( John 11:41-42)
VS.
Lu 19:41 41 As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it 42 and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace--but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."
The word for the deep wailing grief, of the two Luke passages, is far more common. Used poignantly, here, to illustrate Your deep disappointment in the failure of Jerusalem to recognize You as King, above ALL kings. I've cried these deep deep sobs and grief-ridden wailing pain that ushers my breath SO FAR from me, over just one or two sheep, who don't recognize You, over these last 20 years. I pray You will always be apparent to and through me when manifest in my walk and life, Jesus. Thanks for helping me to continually recognize You. I am soooo sorry for all the times that I didn't, Jesus. I didn't mean to make You cry so hard. Empower me to wipe Your tears !
Show me the value of these new insights into Your Word over the next phase of growth in my walk in You, Jesus. Take me deeper and teach me how to please You. Restore my joy, continually, that I may bring You blessing in place of Your grief and tears, for Your Glory. Amen.
