~ Joy in my FIRST eagle at home

The other day, Jesus, Wednesday I think..... You blessed me with the first ever eagle I have ever seen in MY neighborhood in a lifetime ! It was so rare and so well timed, as usual for You.

I was driving home from work. A piece of highway I have driven twice a day for years, back and forth to work. A significant piece of highway, actually, when I first met Hubbs 28 years ago, I used to travel it to visit him. I had never ventured that far north before meeting him.

I was listening to Kings of Leon ~ Only By Night CD ~ The song "Crawl." The lyrics were inspiring much thought in me..... The song has a prophetic overtone and really FITS the days we live in, so well. It is, by far, one of my favorites on the CD. I am aware of Kings of Leon's prior success in Europe before making a splash with this most recent CD in the USA. I know, through my own travel, that the views we glean of the USA when immersed in other cultures is NOT the same as that we gain by living here for a lifetime. We are viewed much differently abroad. I think this has influenced the lyrical content. I am also aware of their upbringing, by a traveling evangelist named Leon. Three brothers and a cousin. Thus their name, dedicated to their affection for Leon, "Kings of Leon." All that combined leads me, _just me, Jesus_, to see these lyrics as a song to You. ( I see most songs that way, as You know. You know everything about me. This IS what makes Your voice to me SO PERFECT !) I see it as a commentary on our pride, our irreverance for You. Facing, as do all, the grave .... brings the judgement of every fruit to Your Throne. We've lost, in large part, our ability or affinity to KNEEL before You and seek Your face. We don't want You to walk away. _I DON'T !_

So, I'm listening and pondering....the stock market DOW has tumbled to the mid 6,000s this week.... my Mom's holdings have halved in value since the DOW of 14000+ of October 2007.... I am thinking of the recent BOON (relatively) in mine and Hubb's work hours.... both of us are getting overtime after a near year of partial unemployment... I'm praying about investing in a rental property and how sad it would be to acquire a gain in someone's heartbroken loss.... I'm praying about boosting Teknon into a better start for his future through a stake in that rental property purchase. I'm praying about the trip to India and hoping that You will make CLEAR to me that Your hand IS or ISN'T on that opportunity soon, so I can acquire travel plans.... and the lyrics reach the spot I most find distracting and occupying of my heart's ear:

Strivings meant to create what ONLY YOU CAN ACHIEVE through, in and FOR us, Jesus, when we abide in submission to Your Lordship.

*Untouched, except by our poor stewardship of the resources that YOU GAVE US.

So, who are 'they?' Your word choice. I knew instantly who 'they' were... they are those who wait on and hope in You ! It's from Isaiah 40:31 . They are those who rise above the traffic and the fray, they are those who are renewed in You.

And, then, as I drove closer toward him, he banked and turned and again sailed over the highway, back from the direction he'd come, his white tail glinting in the sun's light like a rudder of purest intention. He was beautiful, Jesus, thank You.

We better learn to crawl....to KNEEL ! before You DO walk away. Thanks for assuring ME that You will NOT be leaving me, that day, Jesus. As you know I DO, kneel that is. Both within and without. Thank You for teaching me that, for the mentors who have nurtured me and for the continuing leading into good stewardship of all that I am, in You, Jesus. You are the Lord of ME.
