Intercession

Insight:
The Word of God is a model of how to be effective in prayer and or intercession. If one studies and meditates upon the scriptures written in the book of Psalms, it illustrates how David became effective in warfare. David was a skilled warrior. The experiences that David went through trained him like on-the-job type of training. He learned much through the furnace of afflictions.
Psalm 144:1-5
A Psalm of David.
1 Blessed be the LORD my Rock,
Who trains my hands for war,
And my fingers for battle—
2 My lovingkindness and my fortress,
My high tower and my deliverer,
My shield and the One in whom I take refuge,
Who subdues my people[a] under me.
3 LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him?
Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?
4 Man is like a breath;
His days are like a passing shadow.
Intercession is spiritual warfare. To be effective in intercession, takes practice. It takes courage to step up using authority given to a child of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and standing on the blood of Jesus, who brings the victory due to His shed blood at Calvary. Oftentimes, one is trained on the battlefield, or shall I say while going through a particular trial. It is during these times, one becomes seasoned. The times one goes through the battle can be said to be divine opportunities to be trained in spiritual warfare; to become an effective prayer warrior and or intercessor. An intercessor must stand on the Word of God for through God’s Word the prayers carry much weight. God’s Word never comes back void. The Bible says that if two touch and agree on anything that is asked, “it shall be done.” “One [can] chase a thousand and two [can] put ten thousand to flight.” (Matthew 18:19; Deut. 32:30 KJV) When one intercedes, there should be the expectation that the answer is received. It is important to wear the whole armor of God as written in the book of Ephesians, chapter 6, starting with verse 10 and through 18 that says,
The Whole Armor of God
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
A soldier in the Air Force of Jesus Christ who is the Chief Captain of the Hosts, must wear the whole armor of God, not just parts of it. Understand that intercession is warfare and can be compared to a continuous aggressive struggle, pressing in, until victory is accomplished through the cross.
Testimony:
Some life experiences regarding intercession that I shared before but will share again in this thread…I can see through these the Lord was helping me grow spiritually. There have been many times the Lord has used me in intercession. Many years ago, when I met a new friend who worked at a women’s domestic violence shelter, she was concerned because one of the women who also worked there on staff, was assumed to be involved in the satanic. My friend had helped many women who came through the shelter beyond what was required on the job. Even witness to them in private. She would try to help, even if it was putting someone on a bus. When working the long weekend shifts, she would late at night when everyone was supposedly sleeping, would walk around through the building in intercession for stronghold’s to be broken there, and also for the women to be set free. On one occasion, I helped her in intercession for the shelter. After my time was over staying at the shelter, I moved into an apartment with my then 3 ½ year old daughter. One day, my roommate talked to me about her concerns. She seriously felt that her life was in danger, and it involved someone involved in a satanic group. I took a large sheet of paper, drew a large circle on it, wrote down several words as led, I drew a line over it, representing the situation to be broken off. I began to pray outwardly, and jump up and down on that piece of paper in intercession. Then after some time passed, I stopped. I later heard from my friend that God had spoken to her saying that I had saved her life. The Holy Spirit heard the prayers, and I believe sent out warrior angels for her protection. She had a hedge of protection around her. God was truly in the situation and answered. During the time of intercession, I was battling for my friend’s protection. It was like warfare. I believe intercession can be so intense; a person must be willing to be a radical warrior for the Lord and press in unto the answer comes and or a feeling in one’s spirit to rest. That is what is needed today, those in the Body of Christ willing to be radical warrior’s for the Lord’s army, Holy Spirit stompers able to breakthrough territory and reclaim for Jesus Christ for His Kingdom, Glory and Honor.
"Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." James 5:15-17
The Bible says, "We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and spiritual powers in the heavens above" Eph. 6:12
Take authority over these particular strongholds in the name of Jesus as the Holy Spirit reveals. "God's Spirit is in you and is more powerful that the one that is in the world" 1 John 4:4
Also, during this time when I lived in a women’s shelter, and seeking for low-income housing, I had a sister in the Lord from my church who was also praying for me to find an apartment. I attended a church at that time that was having prayer 24/3, that is, on the weekend prayer was constant for a 24 hour shift for three days. I was involved in the prayer shift. Anyway, I was told by the staff at the shelter I was going to have to leave because my time was up. Women typically stayed at a shelter for thirty days. During a homeless period of nine months, I had moved and lived in three different counties, and three shelters. Low income housing was difficult to find. I found out there was oftentimes an eighteen month waiting period to get a home. I had less than a day or two to find a place to live. My friend drove me from apartment to apartment in search for an open door of opportunity. There was a place we went to see the apartment manager, Janice. She told us it would take a miracle for me to move in, because there was a waiting list for housing. At that moment, there was no available apartment to lease to me. My friend who was strong in intercession and had faith told her that we were counting on a miracle. That night, the woman woke up from a dream, and sensed she was supposed to give me the apartment. She told her husband about it, he simply told her to go back to sleep. But the idea kept pressing on her mind and or heart. When she went to the manager’s office in the morning, a woman who was going to sign a lease for an apartment changed her mind. Janice, the apartment manager called my friend, and told her, “Your friend must have been on her knees all night long in prayer. Her prayer is answered.” Both my friend and I had prayed with believing for the answer to come that night. This situation became a testimony to share.
"And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:21
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." Mark 11:23
"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." Matthew 7:7
Several years ago, when my daughter was fourteen years old, one evening I felt strongly led by the Holy Spirit to pray. During this evening that lasted for many hours, I was in deep pain within my belly. I was praying in the Spirit and in the natural. Somehow I knew that I was in travail. This was the first time it ever happened to me. I knew something was going on in the natural and spiritual realm. I was experiencing actual physical pain during prayer. At the time, I wondered if the situation was about my daughter.
This reminds me of Jesus when He was in the Garden of Gethsemane, that means “Oil Press”, during prayer he was in agony. The prayer sustained Him through all of the events surrounding the crucifixion.
Intercession is pressing in like in the story of the friend who comes at midnight asking for three loaves of bread. His persistence paid off, and received what he needed. Jesus teaches persistence in prayer, along with a sense of urgency and boldness. Luke 11:5-8 Then, intercession is prayer that “presses on” until we apprehend God’s will in whatever situation we are facing. Phil.3:12
During the night, I kept battling in prayer, at one time I wondered if I should go to the hospital. But I knew although what I was feeling in the natural was painful, something was going on in the spiritual realm and I had to hold on. The time of travail felt like being in labor. I was groaning.
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26
Several weeks passed, my daughter was able to come spend some time with me in the summer. My roommate, daughter, and I went to a prophetic and healing conference scheduled that was scheduled in our area. Before we left, she almost didn’t want to go. I had to really coax her into going. Todd Bentley was speaking during one session, and giving out Words of Knowledge and Healing to those people the Spirit of God gave him beforehand. My daughter was called to the front by Todd Bentley for a Word from the Lord that spoke of her having a double mantle of both Deborah, and of Maria Woodworth-Etter; she would be in leadership over whole groups of teens in teams like YWAM type of thing; healing ministry; being given words; having dreams and visions and being supernaturally visited in the night; and this would begin in her late teens and early twenties…
I knew that what had happened to me weeks previous was for a reason, I was battling in the Spirit. I was in warfare.
God Bless,
