In the beginning- back to the basics
12 August 2013
This post was birthed in a homework assignment my pastor gave me Saturday night. She suggested I meditate and dig deeper than just the apparent in Genesis 1:1,2. Since the first time I stepped into the sanctuary for a service back in latter May of this year I have been awed by the abiding presence of Daddy’s intimate spirit and love towards those gathered there. I went home Saturday evening and read the verses in several versions and then did the typical word search in Strong’s Concordance until the wee hours of Sunday morning. It all shared glimpses of insight but I really sensed that Daddy was desiring to take me much deeper. I was correct in my belief and the following is what started out as a Bible study on two verses and ended up with what I believe is Daddy’s heart and desire from the verses. Please bear with me, this really does all come together though it seems fragmented most of the way.

I had a doctor’s appointment downtown this morning and chose to take a TARC bus. I typically set in the last seat before the rear door, no reason just started doing it. Today there were no seats available until you get to the elevated seats in back so I picked the very first seat. As we traveled through the usual route I found myself being surprised at how much of a difference the view was even though the seat was only maybe 8” higher. Here I am on this crowded and noisy bus when Daddy starts garnering my attention. What follows is a word that is part personal and part for my local family at Open Door and no I don’t understand it. I don’t have to, but I must be faithful to share it.
“Behold I have elevated you to a new place and position not of your choosing. Behold how your view and perspective changes with your with your new position. It is for a purpose of my choosing and not your own.”
Even as I was trying to lay hold of what He meant He started teaching me about “brooding”. From my earliest days as a Christian I was taught that “First the natural and then the spiritual, Nature per se is a shadow box reflection of the spiritual realm and often brings us revelation of the awesomeness and countless facets of our Creator-Father. This is what He first showed me and then spoke over Open Door.
In Genesis 1:2 the Bible records that the Holy Spirit was moving over the earth and various translations speak of it as hovering or brooding. As I started researching the root word I kept ending up with explanations like a mother bird intently and protectively watching over her nest of eggs, The encyclopedia speaks of this as the ingestation period and for every species of birds or mammals the timing was different. At that point Daddy started elaborating what He was trying to show me.
“ Brooding and gestation periods are different for each. There are those newly come and those not even there yet who will be elevated, by My Spirit, before even those of the foundations of this house. Receive them and embrace them for they are My gifts to you needed to prepare and equip you for the soon coming season”
A little later as I was speaking with my neurosurgeon’s new private nurse or assistant I found myself sharing concerning the caterpillar and its’ own journey and of course Daddy had something to say to both of us.
“Observe the caterpillar as he is living in a place of flawed identity perception that filters and clouds his view of himself, his surrounding and his future destiny. He finds himself just going through the motions mechanically in order just to survive. Then I show up and take them to our special secret place and when they emerge from that place they have become that which I created them to be and as their true self they also embrace their true destiny. The only pressure is to be willing to accept the role as My child with childlike faith, listening intently for My voice and disregarding all the others.” We spent 45 minutes in the exam room as Daddy lathered both of us with His Fatherly love.
Back to verse 1 and it said He created, it wasn’t an accident or a random act. God is complete within Himself, He doesn’t need anything we could possibly offer. Yet out of the deep and perfect love within His perfect heart there was a longing, a longing He birthed and created within Himself, to have sons and daughters that He could freely and richly love and they could return that same kind of love back to Him. He didn’t need to create a universe full of countless stars, suns, and planets to be fulfilled and yet it was His Love that caused Him to do it. He has seen in minute details the lives of every child christian or not with all the flaws, all the rebellion and all the heartache they would cause Him and those around themselves and still it was that Love, unconditional and unfathomable, that caused Him to reach out into nothingness and create a place for the children He would bring forth. He created a lush and fruitful planet to sustain us and provided the bounty of His Heart in plants, birds, fish and mammals He knew we would need to survive and flourish. He created countless colors to cause us to find pleasure in His creation. He didn’t have to, but He wanted and desired to and so it was. It was His Holy Spirit hovering and brooding over all creation to not only bring forth life but to insure it’s continued existence by remaining in a place like that mother hen protecting and nurturing her eggs and then chicks until they are able to go forth in life and fulfil their destiny of populating the earth for our benefit. That brooding is still present today though we have become very indifferent towards such a preposterous thought in our little adult and supposedly sophisticated minds. He is still hovering protectively over the lives of His sons and daughters though we seldom acknowledge it. He is still creating out of nothingness sons and daughters that He longs to have a very personal and intimate relationship with. We see a dim reflection of that longing in our own lives with babes and children. We seem to get so caught up with “Today” that we fail to embrace the “Beginning” and be overwhelmed by the cascading Love that brought us to now. Daddy wrote the perfect love story and it only took two simple verses in the Bible to say it all. Be blessed and overwhelmed by the infinite and unconditional Love He has for us and embrace it, live it and definitely enjoy it.
