Before You were known, You knew me
My wayward nights and days
Even my thoughts, Your eyes could see
As were my shameful ways
Each spoken word, each foul deed done
The filth I tried to hide
The wicked things I thought was fun
The darkness deep inside
How many times I’d heard Your name
How You suffered and died
How is mankind still plagued with shame?
And sin being magnified
Churches once full, grow empty now
Religion’s common place
Still countless refuse their knees to bow
For love to grant them grace
I’m saved my God, because of Christ
Because of faith received
Jesus Your Son, was sacrificed
That truth would be believed
Wonder of wonders I’m here
Through nothing done or said
Bought and taught with righteous fear
Raised, from the walking dead
