When all is light, it is hidden from our sight
Like stars washed out by the sun’s rays
Their splendor only revealed at night
Peripheral night vision…sight held at bay
Avert searching eyes, from the place of location
Sought by the mind, while scanning the seasons
At long last to witness the juxtaposition
Held in the mind…a moment of wisdom
Then slipping away, as though refusing containment
Fading, falling, fumbling, struggling to personify
Resisting the pull of intellectual refinement
Yielding to the hearts deeper wisdom to decipher
Illumination, as seen from a distance
Momentarily held, within lights absence.

Have you ever searched for a star only to have it disappear almost as soon as you located it? That was the inspiration turned inward for this sonnet. (My first and only sonnet.)
