I try my best singing life’s song
To fill my heart with love
Now growing old, it won’t be long
Before I rise above
Yet how can I join Jesus’ queen?
Perfection’s not achieved!
I thought perhaps I’d now be clean
If only I believed
I’ve served at home and foreign lands
To higher heights I’ve scaled
I’ve sought to follow God’s commands
But often times I’ve failed
In faith I’ve drank salvation’s wine
In Christ I see life’s Bread
So why; when Heaven’s Truth is mine
Is still my flesh not dead?
So while I’m here, I can but try
To reach perfection’s height
I’ll seek life’s gold from God to buy
And robe of Liquid Light
To find somehow my Lord to please
I’ll seek His open door
I’ll seek more oft on bended knees
And love my neighbours more
I try to serve God’s only Son
I’ve sought God’s Word to share
What else on earth must still be done?
Which fruit have I to bear?
I’m pressing on to depths unknown
Faithful to reach my goal
Hoping, Jesus; Life’s Corner Stone
