People who take the stand "This isn't what I wanted, but I guess it must be what God wanted" really drive me up the wall. Typically, in my past in particular, these people have (and continue to be) mostly been Christians of course. Don't get me wrong, on occasion I'm apt to say something of a similar nature. On occasion. It's true that there are times in life when the Divine has alternate plans in store for us then we perhaps expected, but... overall? Life is what we make of it, and it can be whatever you want it to be, if you just put your mind and your energies into it.
"God must want this" when discussing negative life situations on a regular basis is the biggest cop-out I have ever heard. The fact is, if there's something in your life that isn't what you wanted... stand up on your own two feet and change it, stop being a coward hiding behind God. People use this as an excuse so they don't have to fix what is bad about their lives. It's a real shame.
There are definitely times in life when Divinity will give you a kick in the ass, it's true. But the Gods aren't up there to be our puppet-masters. We are expected to be responsible children of the Divine on a regular basis, and make decisions for ourselves. Then, when our lives aren't going the way we planned, and we feel something is off-key... we can make decisions and take steps (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually) to change our lives for the better.
It's the people that are using this excuse to stay in terrible situations, like abuse/neglect situations, that really floor me at the end of the day. My goodness... do you really believe in an Entity that would keep you in such a hazardous condition, and say it was for your own good?
It's just sad. If you're in pain, change it. If you don't want it, change it. I guess if people want to live their lives thinking God wants them to be miserable, that's all fine and good... But I'm glad I'm not you. And please don't try to get me to be you, either. I want no part of that way of life.
My God wants me to be happy.
I'll tell you a secret: Yours does too.
