Martha Washington said: "I am still determined to be cheerful and happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our dispositions, and not upon our circumstances." And I agree.
I ventured into one of the other forums, the more "serious" forums...just because I had already posted in all of my subscribed threads in the "fluff" forums, and was thirsty for a little brain stimulation.
I like to read, so when I read a thread about Ayn Rand, I checked it out. I've never read Ayn Rand myself. But, my father read her years ago, and thought her valuable enough of a writer to give me one of her books. (I read a lot. But, typically have dozens of books on my "wait until I feel inspired to read it" shelf. This being one of them. )
I read the O.P.. And thought to ask a question. I do that. When I don't know something but want to. (gone are the days when I was too afraid I'd be ridiculed to ask) And, I was treated pretty badly. Not that I'm complaining. I can hold my own with people who "think they're smarter" than me. Because A. I'm not dumb, and B. my grandmother was always teasing me sarcastically growing up. So, I'm used to giving back what I get without taking it to heart.
Anyway, I never got my question answered. (I'm guessing that the pseudo intellectuals that got off on having the "smartest" (as in "ouch, that smarts") comment...probably just didn't know.
What a disappointment.
Anyway, long story, short... I was followed to my rep comments with something snide, and then to a p.m. with something even more mean spirited. She even had the gall to click on the "friendship request" ...so she could tell me off some more, I'm guessing?
*shakes head* Anyway, I tried to make peace. ...because basically, I'm not the type to get into battles with people who just want to battle. But, she was hell bent on destruction.
So...I had to report her. I don't like to do that. Preferring rather to settle my own problems amicably when possible. Sometimes it's just not possible.
And I just want to add, I'm pretty easy going and upbeat usually. And so, I don't really understand the type of people who just like to fight for no apparent reason. Nor do I understand why on this site, in some areas, it's so common.
...It just seems to me that anyone here should be able to post in any area (not prohibitted to them) that they wish to, without being treated badly right from the get go without any provocation than their being a Christian in a non-fellowship forum.
I mean, Isn't this a "Christian Forum"? That's what the site name says.
Anyway...I just wanted to get that off my chest.
