People often say religion influences secular government or even the other way around. Regardless, perhaps it is a human aspect which leads both down a similar path. For instance, we know from history that nations and empires are doomed from the beginning. Let me use the USA to make a point as most people are familiar with it. It started out with the concept of by the people for the people (although right from the start only landowners were allowed to participate in any way, especially voting - downfall number one). It went on to be by the rich for the rich and eventually by the corporate powers for the corporate powers, as we see today. Right back to elites running a nation as it was run before the breakaway from an empire.
Why should it be obvious to Christians that this would happen? Because it happened to them before, right in their own ball park! Jesus came along and established a way of life, a new society based on the will/governance of God and it was truly by the people for the people, actually poor for the poor. Jesus reversed man's usual ways by placing the powerful last. What would the Adversary do? Obviously something effective as it was only a short period of time before it went through the usual process of human thinking and became by the elites for the elites, and we know how that worked out with the institutionalized religion. They themselves became king makers but not for the same reasons as the prophets of old who had been tasked with the same responsibility. This was not for God's will but simply for fleshy benefit, man's adversarial will.
It wasn't long at all before the traditional governance of man had replaced the concept of the governance of God. So much for His Kingdom come the first time around. If anything, the US breakaway from the Crown was nothing more than a repeat of that religious adversarial process done to scam the people, but this time on the secular front, skipping the good intentions of the very first step in Jesus' time of truly being by the poor for the poor, let alone the people as a whole. No one seeking power wants to be humble in what they do except for perhaps an outward appearance to gain popularity. A red flag went up the moment they started.
When it comes to man, both nations and religion are doomed to reverse any good intentions. Such is the way of man, not of God. Expect everything you believe in regarding this world to be exposed for the lie it is next time His Kingdom comes. I suggest it might be best if people let the scales fall from their eyes and repent of those worldly beliefs sooner than later.
