"You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free".
According to this statement from our Lord the only way to be free is to know the truth: this implies that ignorance and falsehood will forever keep us imprisoned. It is no wonder than why many of the children of Israel kept their slave mentalities from Egypt: they did not know the truth nor did they accept it.
Have we committed the same errors as the children of Israel? Yes we have. Though we have a supposed "Christian nation" why do our women dress like prostitutes? Why do our men dally with prostitutes? If we're so "Christ like" then why are our divorce rates so high? Why are our children so damaged? The answer is simple: we have been lied to and are lying to each other and ourselves by pretending that everything is alright when it is not.
While I could list a ton of problems with our world, that would not be productive as solutions are needed. Christ Jesus gave us the solution to be free from the prison of darkness: walk in the light as He is in the light. Those who remain in the light of truth will never be harmed by the ignorance which hides in the darkness.
Yet many of us will ask like Pilate did, "What is truth?" and to put it plainly we only need look at how those in power during the trial of Jesus handled those who spoke the truth: all who speak the truth will be crucified by those in power. But why is this? Because those in power over us have lied to us for thousands of years for they have not the truth but, falsehood: therefore they are in the darkness along with their servants and will forever be opposed to those in the light with Jesus.
Look at our tax system: we have bills and coins of dead presidents. Last time I checked Jesus told us to give unto Caesar what is Caesar's since his image was on the coin, and He told us to give unto God that which bears His Image: Moses tells us that God made mankind in His Image and Likeness: therefore not only are we to give Caesar his coins but he is to give himself to God, as is the whole of mankind. But, we mindlessly give taxes to men who are long dead.
Look at our entertainment industry, is it not a reflection of the past history of Rome and other world empires which fell? All world powers fell after a decline in morals began, a loss of faith in God, and an increase in decadence, pleasure, and art and public works arose. Look at the Roman colosseum, look at the pornography of Pompeii, look at the homosexuality of Greece, look at the history of Babylon with it's idolatry, orgies and other evils. And when we compare the past to our present times we dont see much of a difference: men and women are showing off their bodies to one another without blushing, children are being sexualized at a young age, the music reflects an overly sexed and idolatrous people, greed is promoted as good, obesity is "sexy"....
Do you oh man and woman wish to be free? Then look into the Bible and not to those who say that you need a pastor or priest or "church" to tell you what the Bible says: instead read what the Bible itself says, and you will find that it is very plain and simple to understand. The only reason it would be difficult to understand is because you are still in the darkness and have not come into the Light. Pray that the Holy Spirit guides you into all truth for that is the Comforter which Jesus Christ left for mankind to guide and instruct us in His Word and Truth.
