Have you ever pulled a cup from the cupboard that appeared perfectly clean but once you glanced inside your face was suddenly disfigured with disguise by the peculiar particles stuck inside? With sheer determination you scrubbed the cup until it was just as clean inside as out.
One day Jesus spoke about how the scribes and Pharisees were like cups that were clean on the outside but full of extortion on the inside. To others they appeared to be righteous but from within they were full of iniquity and hypocrisy. Sadly, this statement holds true for a lot of people who proclaim to be Christians. Outwardly, they go to church, they volunteer, they seem very kind but truth be told the most important part of who they are hasn’t completely surrendered to the Lord; Their hearts.
Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice which cleansed us from our sins. But, many haven’t died to who they use to be in order to fully live for the King. They continue to hold onto some of their worldly beliefs and behaviors which are contrary to who we are called to be.
If the Lord looks into your cup, what would He see? May your cup be clean from the inside out for His glory!
