Years ago, a friend of ours was diagnosed with cancer. She had previously opened her home to us to share from the Bible with her family and friends. When she was no longer able to get out and about we came to her home to join in communion and pray with her. She was grateful and very blessed. We have since realized that there are many people who are homebound and have unmet spiritual and emotional needs.
This could be a great outreach for your house church. Do a little networking to discover people in need of spiritual care in their own homes. Who do you know that is shut-in and doesn’t receive regular pastoral care? Do you know people who have elderly parents that are shut-in? Who would like home communion?
I put together a flyer for a introductory handout. Feel free to cut and paste from it to create your own.
Home Communion A Christian Ministry
If you are unable to attend church and would like a Christian to come visit you, we will.
During our visit, we will pray with you.
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the
saints. Ephesians 6:18
I was crying to the LORD with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. Psalms 3:4
You, O LORD, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me. Psalms 40: 11
We will join with you in he Lords Supper.
They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42
And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.” And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.” Luke 22:17-20
We will be friendly, polite and brief.
We respect people and people’s time and we promise not to overstay our visit.
If you would like a home visit, call (insert name and phone).
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen
The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.
And I believe one holy Christian and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
