Followers of Messiah Jesus go to the Scriptures to get honest and true
questions and answers, for: "the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper
than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit,
and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart"
(Hebrews 4:12 NKJV).
So, which passage from the Bible might qualify as the shortest Q&A to guide us?
My nomination is "Whom have I in heaven but You?" (from Psalm 73:25 NKJV).
To review:
Question: "Whom have I in heaven?"
Answer: "You".
"You", the Lord Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth.
Heavenly Father, may the simplicity of your revealed Word both humble and
motivate us by its sheer directness and liberating force. In the Name of Jesus
In communion with His indwelling Spirit, we say, Amen!
Yes, it would be easy to reason that "Whom have in heaven but You?" is just one
run-on question. Fair enough, but I believe that this string has an embedded,
Heaven-sent answer, as the remainder of the verse, plus the following verse
seem to validate my nomination.
...And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
26 My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
