In the multitude of prayer request, many fail to honor the Lord with an open heart to instruction. As Christians we are taught to bring our request before the Lord. Consequently, many have gotten into the habit of spending practically their entire prayer time, venting.
But, we must not forget that the Lord already knows, what’s on our hearts before we even utter a word. Therefore, while praying is essential to our relationship with Him it is even more imperative that we come before Him eager to “hear.”
We are instructed in Ecclesiastes 5:1-2, to not let our hearts be hasty to utter words before the Lord but let our words be few. Hearing enables the heart to enter into an amazing realm of peace that is comforted by the Lord’s powerful and purposeful will. So the next time you go before the Lord to pray, may you honor and worship Him through the obedience of hearing verses venting.
