This is a story from last September:
It was lunch time, and I was sitting at the popular hangout place on campus for the IVCF chapter I was involved in. I hadn't read my Bible yet that day so I sat down and got ready to tuck in. The people there were eating their lunches, talking, and having a good time. As I glanced around me, my Bible open on my lap, I asked God why He wanted me to set aside time from people to read His word. It seemed to me that a meal should be a family affair, just like what was going on in front of me. People laughing and joking, talking about what He was doing in their lives, and sharing their food.
As I sat there turning this thought over in my mind, another thought (one which I do not take credit for) filled my mind, bringing with it all the warmth and love God intended:
We do have family meals with God, that's what Small Group Bible studies are all about, but when you really want to get to know someone intimately, you set up a romantic meal for two.
Needless to say, I packed up my things and found somewhere a little more private.
