Let’s get real, you know that at one point in your life you have had that head in your hands moment, or looking up to the sky simply pleading, asking, “God where are you?” Don’t lie, you know you have, I know I sure have! There is absolutely NO limit as to which you feel like you just do not see God in your situation, in your circumstance. But, to be real, God isn’t about circumstances; He is about bringing beauty from ashes (see Isaiah 61:3). So instead of saying “God where are you?” why can we not rest assured that God knows, God cares, God does see, God does hear, He is here.
We think about all the strongholds, addictions, disappointment, etc. whatever it is that is bogging you down into defeat from the enemy. What is your hold back? By that I mean what is making you put your head in your hands and ask God where He is at this moment. Let’s go through a few different examples such as broken hearts, and disappointments. When you do not know where to turn – turn to God. Even when you think He is nowhere near you, know that He is here.
BROKEN HEARTS
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). God is dear to those whom have suffered any type of pain, even broken hearts. Now let me clarify, there are many ways to be someone who is brokenhearted. In the bible it mostly states that He helps the ‘brokenhearted sinner.’ Which in that context the ‘brokenhearted sinner’ is simply a person who has been in sin, walked in sin, etc. and is simply brokenhearted because they know they haven’t abided by the Word of God? Now there is also the brokenhearted because of a breakup, the death of a family member, seeing a dear friend fall into a pit of strongholds, etc. Many things in the world can break our hearts, even the small things. Once you realize that God is here and that He can and will heal any type of broken heart, then you can help others be lead to the Healer of broken hearts.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3&4). After you have been comforted, there is no better feeling than comforting someone else in their time of need. Now something to remember not only in your own life but in others lives also, you didn’t get to where you are overnight – so don’t expect healing to come over night. “Faith makes things possible – not easy.” Healing is hard, dealing with things – hurts, walking through your past is tough, but I promise you – it is way worth it! The thing about all this is though, if you do not deal with it now – you will never be able to functionally be able to live a healthy future.
DISAPPOINTMENTS
You always hear, “Yeah, everything happens for a reason, I just wish I knew what the reason was.” Truth be told, you may never know the reason. I love what Christine Caine says about this very thing in her book Undaunted. She states, “We will never understand, this side of heaven, why bad things happen to us and those we love. Nor will we understand so many unexplainable tragedies in this world, from war to famine to earthquakes. But just because we do not understand these things doesn’t mean we must stop trusting God, who has proven again and again that he loves us.” That is powerful stuff, right? I mean God is not to blame in these situations, He loves us and is here to give us rest when we are weary (see Matthew 11:28). We cannot let disappointment blindside us to our appointments with God.
People fail, it is plain and simple. But God – His love never fails. No matter if you just met someone, or it is your best friend in the entire world – they will eventually hurt you or disappoint you in some way. Don’t dwell on it. It is okay to hurt – but you cannot let those feelings over come you, because that is Satan attacking you, and winning.
JUST BREATHE
People have this problem with not thinking they have purpose. They are blinded by the attacks from the enemy, bombarded with the stress of everyday life and cannot even take 10 seconds to just breathe. Do you want to know if you have purpose? Place your hand over your heart, feel your heart beat? Whether you barely have time to slow down, are you breathing? Are you alive? That is purpose. If you’re not dead – Gods not done. “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). That is purpose. He knew us by name; He knew everything about us before He placed us in our mother’s womb. He called us to be prophets of this nation way before our mothers even knew we were in her womb. That is purpose.
Breathe in, and breathe out – do not be conformed to this world and worldly things (see Romans 12:2). When life is too much to stand – kneel. Pray to the Father; do not turn away from Him. He is not the ‘bad guy’ in your situation. The more adversity, strife, pain, etc. that you endure and overcome – is a sign of how tough you are. God doesn’t give His battles to people He think wont overcome them – He gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers. One of the most misused quotes ever is the one that states, “God will not give you more than you can handle.” What is the point of only giving us stuff that we can handle? I mean if we could handle it all then we would all be walking around with great lives, nothing holding us back, nothing keeping us in strongholds or bondage – we wouldn’t even need God. But guess what – we need God, in everything that we do. Therefore, God will never give us more than HE can handle. And when He gives us things that we cannot handle, we seek Him. He provides a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13) He cares for us (1 Peter 5:6&7) we can do all things through Him (Philippians 4:13). Never give up on God – He doesn’t give up on us.
