Guilty Whispers

When guilt first whispers loud our shame
And sin secretes a sigh
Let wisdom cry in Jesus’ name
“O Lord don’t let me die

Don’t let me end in such a state
Don’t let the devil win
Don’t let it be my God too late
To cleanse my soul of sin

Forgive this wretch this stubborn fool
The filthy things I’ve done
For breaking life’s most every rule
And heeding not Your Son

Surely within me burns Your Fire
I’m witnessing Your love
Forgiveness Lord’s my prime desire
Through Jesus Christ above

Become my Lord become my King
Your grace please don’t decline
Upon my finger place Your ring
And let Your will be mine

Please come and set my spirit free
From all I here confess
Let righteousness take hold of me
Let love my heart possess

I’m on my knees repenting here
With face towards the ground
Consume my guilt remove my fear
Let peace within be found

Enable me Your praise to sing
Make pure this heart of shame
That I may rise on eagle’s wing
To glorify Your name”
