God’s ways differ from our ways.
We seek happiness through circumstances.
We want to arrange what we consider a perfect life.
Get a high paying job.
Get a house with a manicured lawn with a BMW in the driveway.
Finally, place a handsome husband/wife as the centerpiece.
Then, we say, “Now, I can enjoy life.”
We seek happiness through circumstances.
God is deeper than that.
The happiness God wants us to have works from inside out, not outside in.
He wants us to become a people who can be joyful no matter the circumstance.
Think about the disciples in Acts 5:41. They just got flogged and thrown out of the torture chamber.
As they come out of the building, they rejoice that they were considered worthy to suffer for Jesus’ sake.
Likewise, God wants us to become people who can rejoice no matter the circumstance.
We say we don’t want our happiness to be like that. We want happy circumstances. But a person who depends on circumstances is never secure. Something goes off, and we are miserable.
You lose your job, your house is robbed, or your wife/husband is not who you thought he/she was.
The whole world gets rocked. Have you seen such a person? He is neurotic. He tries to control every circumstance.
He is a control-freak.
To be truly happy, our joy must come from within.
Being joyful from the inside out is the only way to be really happy.
