A 12 year-old asks his parents for a car for Christmas. He spends all of his time reading about cars and looking at them and he thinks that driving is the greatest thing ever.
Christmas comes and, no car. Does this mean that his parents don't love him, or are unable to give him a car? Not at all.
Despite what he may think, he is not ready to drive, and his parents, being wiser, know that. They don't enjoy denying him something that he wants so badly, but they're simply doing what's best for him.
But guess what: when he is ready to drive and they can finally give him that car, they will enjoy giving to him just as much as he will enjoy receiving it.
God is our Heavenly Father. He wants to see us happy, as happy as possible in this broken world. But He will not give us something that we're not ready for. It may do us more harm than good, and, being wiser than us, HE KNOWS THAT.
Keep this in mind when you ask God for things.
