Why in Heaven did Jesus call?
Whilst still in filth and shame
Whist full of pride whilst walking tall
Denying His holy name
Not for righteous deeds I’d done
Nor any virtuous song
Alone by grace God sent His Son
To right my every wrong
God saw my heart in deep despair
My soul at Satan’s throne
God’s Lamb exchanged my every care
For love till then unknown
The tears soon dried that flowed in streams
Sweet joy caressed my face
As peace beyond my wildest dreams
Came sadness to replace
On humble knees with contrite heart
With all now found within
I thanked my God for life’s new start
And cleansing me of sin
A smile took shape where once a frown
As gloom made way to Light
As selfish walls came crumbling down
As deeds of lust took flight
Revived; my soul began to sing
Dancing Salvation’s tune
I felt my heart would soon take wing
Above my world of ruin
Above the ashes left behind
Above the rags once worn
I lift my eyes that once were blind
To God and life’s new dawn …..
