From The Ashes-
I rose like the Phoenix.
What I saw was life changing—
A trail of things I had to let go of-
Years of pain and misbelief,
Seasons of being dismissed,
Dreams shattered by injustice.
Yet in the glow of new wings,
I saw something else—
The strength I carried through every fire.
The truth that survived the smoke.
The quiet resilience they never recognized.
The man I became while they weren’t looking.
I had to rise to escape the past-
Nothing about the past had anything for me.
It took great strength and faith to let it die.
I had to step out of my boat.
I had to testify of my faith in Christ-
Of everything that I have overcome.
Similarly to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah -
God had to destroy my life to save it.
Good or bad, the past had to be taken away.
Though, I have seen what is ahead,
I must continue my flight.
I rose like the Phoenix.
What I saw was life changing—
A trail of things I had to let go of-
Years of pain and misbelief,
Seasons of being dismissed,
Dreams shattered by injustice.
Yet in the glow of new wings,
I saw something else—
The strength I carried through every fire.

The quiet resilience they never recognized.
