I had an unbelievable situation with one of the local mega churches. I had attended this church for several years, serving in the church, giving my tithes and offering, and promoting the church in the community. However, here recently I had asked the church for help with my electric bill and was told they do not have a ministry for that. I asked her, "I have attended, served, promoted, and gave my tithes and offerings (as well as my young daughter gave her tithes and offerings) and when I am in need of help I can't get it? Her reply was that's right." I e-mailed the pastor discussing the situation and he did not reply. Me and my daughter felt like we have been bamboozled. What is going on? Is this common with churches? By the way, I called a local community center close by the church and they do help with electric bills and rent, but they did not have any money at that time. However, I did ask them if they receive financial help from Canaan and they said, "no." What are your thoughts about this situation or prehaps we should do an opinion poll regarding how common is it for churches to not have a benevolence ministy? They make appeals for money from their members, but when their members need help they are ignored.
