So I haven't been eating exactly what the "meal plan" suggests, but I have cut out all the processed and prepackaged foods from my diet. The main thing for me is to find ways to incorporate the "meal plan" foods into our weekly diet and budget. Breakfast and lunch are easy, but dinner has to be something DH will at least try. So I'm experimenting with various foods from the "meal plan" and have found that some of them aren't very tasty at all! Since this is a life-long change instead of just a 8 week diet, the food has to be something I will eat for the rest of my life.
I'm making pretty good progress so far, without really even trying. In the past two weeks, I have lost 6 lbs, 1.5 inches from my waist, and almost all my cravings for sugar. When I do get a sugar craving, I have a date or two - which have plenty of natural sugars, almost a gram of fiber each, and loads of calcium, potassium and other minerals! Like I told the deacon at my church, so far this hasn't been as difficult as it's been in the past. I guess I've changed my way of thinking about food.
