Extra Long RPG Seg.

***Still on the path to redemption, Kes is now at the establishment of one those whom she betrayed. This segment takes place about an hour or so after my previous entry. She's alone in the bathroom, contemplating her emotions and memories. I was playing around with writing details in a fit of boredom.

Kes opened her eyes as the dizziness started to pass and she slowly lifted her gaze back up to the mirror, meeting her own reflection with a lifeless expression. It was strange. She almost didn’t recognize herself; it had been awhile since she had actually seen herself in a mirror. She lifted a thin, pale hand and tentatively touched the mirror, letting her fingertips lightly trace the outline of her face.

Her hair was still damp from the rain and was hanging limply down around her mismatched eyes in short, dark, tangled tresses. Eyes which were usually were bright were now dull and sunken in, dark smudges appearing underneath, displaying the weariness of someone who hadn’t slept in ages. Her face was thinner than it had been before, making her cheekbones more prominent, ashen skin contrasting highly with her dark clothes.

She looked like…death.

A faint smirk twitched slightly around the corners of her mouth at that thought but then it slowly died away. It only reminded her of him. Everything reminded her of him. All the memories were flooding back all at once, quickly and overwhelming; she felt like she was being drowned from the pressure of it all. She took in a sharp breath as emotion threatened to spill over.

He had given her everything. Whatever she wanted, whatever she needed. He would have been willing to do anything for her. Her jaw clenched, trembling. He had loved her. And she had thrown it all away without a second thought. Just like that. A short burst of anger flooded through her and she drew back the hand that was resting against the mirror and then violently slammed a fist into her reflection, shattering the mirror with the force of the blow.

Broken pieces of her reflection tumbled down into sink with a ‘clink’. Kes suddenly grimaced as a sharp pain shot up her arm and she looked down at her hand, flexing her fingers. Her hand was now broken open at the knuckles and bleeding profusely. Blood had begun spilling over the sides of her hand and dripping into the sink, the red splashing against the mirror shards. It had been a stupid thing to do, but it made her forget, if only momentarily.

One of the jagged pieces of the mirror had caught itself between the ridge of her first and second finger, keeping the wound from closing. Kes’ brow furrowed in a frown, disoriented and slightly dazed from the pain, as she carefully pulled the splinter from her hand. It wasn’t very big, but it was just big enough to do some damage and create a brilliant mess. She grunted slightly as the shard slid out of her hand, the blood flow increasing slightly before it slowed and finally stemmed. Her hand was starting to swell and instantly turning several shades of blue and black, a quick forming bruise; most likely broken from the impact.

Dropping the piece into the sink with the rest of the broken fragments, Kes blinked as her vision blurred. The stunt had been just enough to push her over the edge. She backed away from the sink, stumbling over her own feet, until her back hit the wall. She quickly sank down to the floor, unable to remain standing any longer, landing hard. Her eyelids were growing heavy and she winced as her hand fell limply onto the floor next to her.

In the next few moments, her head lolled forward, her body slid along the wall until she was lying on the floor, one arm caught underneath of her, jarring her injured hand; the other arm slumped to floor trying in vain to pick herself back up again. She had been awake for so long now and she just wanted to sleep. Finally, she gave up her struggle and succumbed to the black world of exhaustion.

***Dun dun dun! Kes has finally passed out from exhaustion!
Ooo...I've wanted to use that smiley for a very long time. Heh.

Also, the 'he' Kes keeps referring to? He belongs to my friend, so I won't be posting anything of him because he's...hers...if you follow me...yeah.
