End of Year Thoughts

I love the end of an old year and the beginning of a new one. It's a time of reflection and evaluation. I like to look at the past year and see what I did right (do more of that) and what I need to improve on (and make changes).

New Years resolutions are a waste to some people because they don't think they'll keep them anyway. To me, making the resolutions is almost as important as keeping them. It's good to reevaluate your life and continuously try to make improvements. Working on yourself is an admirable thing. Getting lazy and saying "no changes for me" is not. No one is perfect and we could all do with a little tweaking, even if it's just donating more to charity or volunteering or smiling more:).

I used to make a list of 10-15 things to change, big changes. Now I see that as a little too enthusiastic, and will lead to disappointment. So this year I wanted to keep it smaller and simpler.

My resolutions include (there is one or two that I am keeping to myself):

  1. Keep my GPA up
  2. Do more strength training
  3. Have my sister take some photos of me and show them to some CF'rs
  4. At least start on a novel (I have a general idea for one, but I haven't actually started writing it yet)
  5. Visit at least one of the cities at the top of my post-graduating move list
  6. Blog more (on myspace and CF), like once a month
