Don't Throw Away Your Confidence

“Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised.
“For yet in a very little while,
He who is coming will come, and will not delay.
But My righteous one shall live by faith;
And if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.
“But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:35-39 NASB1995)

The Christian walk of faith is hard. God never promised us that it would be easy for us. The easy way is the broad way which the many travel, whose end is death, not life eternal. So, just because life gets harder, especially as we get much older (I am 75), we should not give up or back down or run away and escape into another world which is less oppressive. This is not the time to begin to take it easy and to just sit back and relax as though we do not have a care in the world. For we live in very troubled times.

This is the time to rise up and to listen up and to hear the call of God on your lives to follow him in obedience, to forsake your sins, and to serve him in doing whatever it is he has called us to do, as his followers. And if you are already serving the Lord in ministry, but you are getting tired, let the Lord be your strength. Let him help you to keep moving forward. For the devil wants us to give up. He wants us to quit. He wants us to run away and to just take it easy from this point forward. For he wants to silence us.

And there are probably a lot of people who would like for us to stop sharing the truth of the gospel, who would wish that we would back down and give up and just take it easy for the rest of our lives, and be more “normal” like most everyone else. But Jesus didn’t die on that cross just to forgive us our sins so that when we die we go to heaven. He died so we will die to sin and walk in obedience to his commands and serve him with our lives in the areas of ministry to which he has called and equipped us to do, for his glory.

So, no matter what we are going through, and no matter how much harder it becomes, or how tired and worn out we feel, we must keep persevering in our walks of obedience to our Lord, in surrender to his will, and in serving him with our lives in the areas of ministry to which he has called us. For the Scriptures do not teach us that when we reach a certain age we can now just relax and take it easy and entertain ourselves with the pleasures this world has to offer us. Yes, rest is important. But it must not overtake us.

People still need to hear the gospel message taught in truth, in its fulness, according to the Scriptures taught in context, which not many are doing these days. The gospel message still needs to go out to the people of the world who live in many different nations. And it doesn’t seem as though many people are teaching the gospel of Christ in its fulness. But the majority of “Christians” appear to be cutting the gospel message short in order to appease human flesh and to not offend the ungodly of the world.

And the gospel message that Jesus Christ taught is that, if we are to come after him, we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow him in walks of obedience to his commands, in holy living, in the power of God. For if we hold on to our lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if we deny self, die to sin daily, by the Spirit, and we walk, in practice, in obedience to our Lord’s commands, by faith in Christ, then we have salvation from sin and eternal life with God.

And the following paragraph is a summary of Romans 6:1-23:

By God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, which is not of our own doing, we are crucified with Christ in death to sin and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as slaves to God and to his righteousness in walks of obedience to his commands. Thus, we are no longer to allow sin to reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires. For if sin is what we obey, it results in death. But if obedience is what we obey, it results in sanctification and its end is eternal life with God.

And Jesus taught that not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God the Father. And one day we will all stand before the Lord on the day of judgment, and many will claim Jesus as “Lord,” and will proclaim what they believed they did in his name. But he will respond, “I never knew you! Depart from me you workers of lawlessness,” because they would not obey the Lord, but they obeyed their sins, instead. And they will be cast into the fires of hell.

And so it is critical that this message is getting out to the people, for the majority of “Christians” here in America largely appear to be accepting an altered half-truth gospel which does not require of them that they deny self, die to sin, and obey the Lord in practice. And yet they are being promised salvation from sin and eternal life with God in heaven. So we need to keep speaking the truth of what God’s word teaches, IN CONTEXT, for too many are believing lies from Scriptures taught out of context and misrepresented.

For Our Nation

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
