Donation

I met a follow today again today after years of not seeing him. Last I saw him he was suffering the ravages of cancer and the radiation treatments.

He was always cheerful to my eye thought I'm sure there where times when it was hard to be so.

Skip forward to present day. There he stands, Not an imposing man in ether physique nor presents. The years have worn a little harder on him than most, but still a hansom man. Then he approaches me and we begin the joy of catching up on the years that have passed..... "where you live'n now" - "wow, you moved there"- "Hows the place for needing renos?"- "I had a major organ transplant a few months ago.......again."

WHAT?!?!?

He then calmly explains that they had been preparing for his funeral, when a donor had been found, and that this was his second liver. All this with his typical calm pleasant demeanor. Now he is no dummy, but he's no rocket scientist either, he is however a nuclear physicist, working in the cancer field.

This got me to thinking, this man standing beside me had not once but twice been given another chance, at the cost of someone else's life. A life of a person who thoughtfully filled out their organ donor card. A life of a person who chose to give life in their death. A life of a person who was willing to give a piece of them selves to another in a most intimate way. A blessing from beyond the grave.

Then I couldn't help but think of another who gave of himself. Emptied himself of all, an empty vessel. But not only did he empty himself so that others could live, but then filled himself with all the foulness that mankind could muster, all the filth, all the garbage, all the hate, all the evil. The wickedness was so great that his own father couldn't look at him. And the worst of it is, most won't accept another chance
