What is The Church?
My name is Sue Love. I am 75 years old, less than four months away from turning 76. I believed in Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior at our church’s summer camp in Beaulah Beach, Ohio, at age 7. The church I was a part of from birth was affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance, which was begun by a man named A. B. Simpson. [He left the institutional Presbyterian church’s pastorate to minister to the migrants in his city who were not welcomed, but who were turned away by his church congregation.] I continued to be a part of the C&MA for 40 years, in 5 states, in 8 cities.
We (my husband, my children, and I) continued also to participate with multiple different institutional church congregations, in multiple cities and states, when there was not a C&MA church available to us, which included church denominations such as Baptist, Presbyterian, and Methodist. But 20 years ago the Lord Jesus began opening my eyes to see what was going on in the majority of these institutional denominational “churches,” and he began encouraging me to come out from among them. I resisted for a while, thinking there must be an exception, but I found none. 12 years ago I left.
But understand, please, that I did not leave the church. The church is not these man-created institutions and denominations. The church is the body of believers in Jesus Christ who have died with Christ to sin and who are walking in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in practice, by the Spirit, in the power of God. Much like God called A. B. Simpson to come out of the institutional church to minister the gospel of Christ to the people of the world, so the Lord called me out of these market-driven institutional “churches” to take the gospel to the people of the world via the internet.
And, in reality, the Lord has called and is calling all his people to leave (to part from) these institutional man-created denominations which are largely in bed with (in unholy partnerships with) the government, and have thus turned their gatherings into marketplaces to be marketed to the people of the world. For they have largely incorporated (merged, joined, united) with the government and with the world, and have turned their “churches” into marketplaces, in order to draw in large crowds of people from the world. Thus, many of them have also altered the gospel to appeal to the ungodly.
[Matthew 21:12-13; John 2:13-17; Acts 5:27-32; 1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 1 Corinthians 3:1-9; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; Philippians 3:18-19; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22; Revelation 18:1-5]
What is The Gospel?
I have recently been reading some internet posts by someone with the C&MA via a Face Book (internet) group, which is a group of people mainly who are a part of the church gathering I was a part of my first 27 years, and that my parents were a part of all 86 years of their lives, and that my grandparents were a part of nearly from the very beginning of this church gathering, nearly 130 years ago. And I have been greatly grieved by what they are teaching is the church and by what they are teaching as the gospel, both of which are absolutely contrary to the teachings of the Scriptures.
In their most recent post they began by quoting psychologists and counselors on the subject of addiction (which includes addiction to sin). And their solution is to walk alongside the addicts, nurturing (supporting, encouraging, fostering) them, praying with them, and helping them with poverty, education, employment, and housing issues. Then they said they strive to offer this to addicts who “give their lives to Jesus.” And they said that “this is how broken lives are healed and disciples are truly made.”
Are we to minister to the poor, the needy, and the hurting? Yes! But according to the teachings of the Scriptures, not according to psychologists and worldly thinking and humanistic methodology. The LORD is our guide.
Jesus, his New Testament apostles, and their teachings (taught in the correct biblical context) are to be what guide us in how to show love to the people of the world and as to what it means to “give our lives to Jesus.” But in the church’s previous writing they taught the gospel as Romans 10:9 alone, which is taught out of context and which, out of context, contradicts the teachings of Christ and of his New Testament apostles, for it is lip service only, and it purposefully excludes dying to sin and walking in obedience to our Lord as part of faith. And so it is leading many people to hell while promising heaven (Matthew 7:21-23 and Romans 6:1-23). But Jesus said..
Jesus and his New Testament apostles taught that faith, which comes from God, is persuaded of God as to his holiness and righteousness and of our need to repent (to die to sin) and to obey God, in practice. For if we hold on to our lives of living in sin and for self, and if obedience to our Lord and to his commands is not what we practice, we will not have eternal life with God. We will lose our lives for eternity because we held on to our sinful practices in this life and we did not submit to the will of God in obeying him. So we need to teach death to sin and walks of obedience to God for salvation.
Gospel:[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 2:5-10; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-24; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:1-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10; Revelation 2:1-29; Revelation 3:1-22]
As the Deer
By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” (Luke 9:23-26 NASB1995)
