“But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NASB1995)
This is where we are in the world and in much of what is called “church” today, at least here in the USA, where I live. So many who profess faith in Jesus Christ and/or who are in the process of leading others to faith in Jesus Christ, are not of Christ at all, but they are of the devil. For they are the malicious, the morally unclean, deceivers, manipulators, and opportunists who are opposite of good, who tell lies, who are not trustworthy, but who are fakes, hypocrites, and egocentrics deceiving the people of the world.
They are the self-indulgent who are full of pride who fake their Christianity to look good in the sight of others but while they live in addictive sinful practices. They put on a show of righteousness on the outside, but like the Pharisees, are full of all kinds of wickedness on the inside. They may appear good outwardly, but inwardly they are not good. And they tell lies to cover up their sinful behaviors in hope that no one will see past their disguise. But their words often give away who they really are and what they are doing.
Many of them are teaching a false gospel message intended to charm and to lure those who are weak in the faith or who are not of faith at all, convincing them that a mere outward profession of faith in Jesus Christ is enough to assure them of forgiveness of all sins and of heaven as their eternal destiny, but without any mention of God’s requirements that by faith in Jesus Christ we must die to sin so that we can now live to God and to his righteousness in walks of surrender and in obedience to our Lord and to his commands.
And many are those who love the darkness and who will not come into the light because their deeds are evil and they don’t want them exposed (see John 3:16-21). And so they will perform as though they believe what the Scriptures teach, but while they live the opposite of that and they remain in the darkness, in wickedness and immorality and lying, etc. For they are the addicted to sin who do not want to let go of their sin to obey God. And many live in an imaginary world where they can live out their fantasies, too.
They have had a life of addiction to sin, and although they profess faith in Jesus Christ, those seeds which were planted in their minds still remain, and they still have a stronghold on their lives and are even multiplying. So they are lacking in insight, discernment, and good judgment while they continue on their paths of sin. And they are unresponsive to God’s appeals to them to die with him to sin and to now follow him in obedience in surrender to God and to his will and purpose for their lives. And they like it like that.
Many of them are embracing a cheapened and diluted and altered version of the gospel of Christ which leaves out God’s requirements for us to put sin to death in our lives, and for us to obey God and his commands, and which pacifies the sinners in their sins rather than to call them to repentance and to obedience to God. For then they can continue in their habitual sins without conscience, and without remorse, and without feeling guilty about their addictive sinful practices, but which will keep them out of heaven.
And it isn’t that many of them don’t know the truth of God’s word, but they are not listening to God. They can hear the truth with their ears, but they block out the truth with their hardened hearts which deny the truth in favor of the lies which let them continue in their sinful practices. And while others do hear, and do put the word into practice to a point, they will not share the truth of what the Scriptures teach with the people of the world out of fear of rejection and persecution, because they want people to like them more.
So, if you are someone who does speak the truth, and who calls sin what it is, and who teaches what the Scriptures teach regarding the consequences of unrepentant and disobedient hearts and lives, you will most likely not be well liked or approved. And you may face much rejection and opposition and persecution because you stand on the truth of God’s word and you do not compromise truth and righteousness to be liked by the people of the world. But it is better to be rejected by the world than by God who tests our hearts.
For Jesus Christ taught that to come to him we must deny self, take up our cross daily (die daily to sin), and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to living in sin and for self, we will lose our lives for eternity. But if we deny self, die daily to sin, by the Spirit, and we walk in obedience to our Lord and to his commands, in his power, then we have eternal life with God. For not everyone who calls him “Lord” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one DOING (obeying) the will of God (see Luke 9:23-26; Matthew 7:21-23).

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.
Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
