We, in the West look and say, they are poor and cannot even feed themselves, and yet, they look at us and say that they, at least, know right from wrong.
Of course, in many cases this blindness is necessary for us to rationalize our relative material wealth, which, in reality, isn't itself, even the direct problem. For instance, how much more agricultural output could Russia or even China bring to the table if compensation were available? To a great extent available without bothering anything endangered or assaulting ancient peoples.

Which, in part, is why I feel an adjustment at the "intellectual" level in education is necessary to combat the various problems.
The Pope says it simply:
Not as an objective, but as the present reality.
But what other system could exist that also promotes the dignity of each person? Socialism and government employment have really been nothing but side shows compared to free market economies.
Then, there is the production of luxury goods, which employs many in the service of the few, but with dignifying work, while, at the same time fueling the desire to amass ever greater fortunes and power.
