Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it"
Now I dont know about you but I certainly want to be one of the few. I would hate to be one that goes down the wide road cause its easier. More traveled less bumbs along the way with fewer obstacles as that road ultimately will lead you to ...destruction. I was listening to one of my husband Seans favorits songs this morning and 1 verse in that song just stuck out to me " How do I since a tide thats rising? Its desensitizing me from living a life in eternity?" That I think is one of the worst fears I have especially as a mother of four. That this world has become so bad that over time people are being desensitized to the sin around them. People even Christians find it hard to tell the differance between the road that is wide or the road that is narrow. We have been surrounded in utter sin for so long people have a hard time distingiushing right from wrong. Where there was once (black or white) there is now grey!! The church in its history has only helped this problem along by not pointing out and standing up for Gods will. And now with technology the way it is there is sex, violence, drugs, abuse, ect... in our faces and in our minds 24/7. Thats why in the song I like when she says "How can I sense a tide thats rising?" In lament terms she is saying How can I tell when sin is about to overtake me when I have been so used to seeing it on a daily basis? That its not abnormal to me any more. But she does know that this (Tide) of sin will keep her from a life in eternity. We do now want that. As followers of Christ we should pray everyday that He will keep our eyes open and our minds ready for when that tide of sin tries to overwhlem us we will not be so desensitized that we do not see it coming.
"Heavenly Father I pray for myself and all those who read this that we will never be so used to the sin of this world that we can not tell when it is sneaking into our lives. I pray for your constant discernment in all of our hearts and minds in Jesus Name Amen!!!
