In Genesis chapter 22, yes we see how God told Abraham to offer his own son Isaac "as a burnt offering". And yes Abraham did go to do that. Abraham tied up his son Isaac, and put him on the altar. Then Abraham picked up his knife in order to kill Isaac for the burnt sacrifice. But then was when the LORD called to Abraham and told him not to do it.
So, Abraham really believed that God meant what He said for Abraham to do. But it was a test!!
What if Abraham listened to God telling him to kill his son, but then he did not listen to the LORD telling him it was a test?
If we hear from God about what to do, it is a good idea to keep on listening, and not just run off and take things into our own hands to do what we think He means
God wants us to keep in sharing and communication with Him while we do what He guides us to do. And His sacrifices mean love and bring life.
And yes our Father does personally communicate with each of us who are His children; we are never alone to have to figure things out, by ourselves. Abraham is our example; though he was so great, how God related with him is meant as our example > each of us is important enough so our Father does desire to personally communicate with each of us and guide every one of us, all along our way
