CSU-Rose Quartz and Pearl

First of all, I would like to thank whoever's actually been reading these. Feel free to contact me, I could list you as a supporter on the main forum. And I would love to hear positive feedback.
Here we come to the pairing that made me leave the show (for those who don't know, I left after 'Chille Tad'). This is going to be painful to talk about, especially with how much I loved their friendship before the... *sigh*...
These two became ANOTHER girl couple. It was completely unnecessary to the plot and takes away from the family dynamic s little bit. (I mean, wouldn't you rather imagine Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl as Rose's daughters?)
I won't be bringing up Rose's Scabbard in this post. That episode hurts to think about.
But you don't care about that, let's talk about how we can 'fix' this.
All I really have to do to think of them as friends is think back to how I thought of them before- a close, Celestia/Twilight like relationship where wise Rose was the mentor to young Pearl and molded her into the soldier and the Gem she is today. Pearl was at first nervous around her and wanted to impress her all the time, but as the millenias rolled by she became the friend she could share everything with.
Here's one of the biggest reasons this ship doesn't even work: the age gap. It's not even a headcanon of mine that Pearl was young when she first met Rose ("Then again, I was only a couple thousand years old when I started training with Rose Quartz.")
For Gems- and any other supernatural beings who live long lives- the age gaps in romance are determined by mental age, since physical age doesn't matter for them as much as it does for humans. A Gem's mental and physical age as time goes by is different for every Gem ever formed. This is why many don't mind Rose marrying Greg, or Edward marrying Bella, or Discord marrying Fluttershy (< my ship right there) or whatever.
Pearl was a young apprentice to Rose Quartz. I imagine their relationship would've been mother-daughter like-ish at first, although not completely. I imagine Pearl would be independent and resistant to any close ties back then.
As Pearl grew up they would be like sisters.
I think this just WORKS better with the tone and the theme of the show.
Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl could be like Rose's daughters/sisters (although Amethyst is more of her daughter than the others) and they're raising their baby brother/nephew- Steven.
How is this not perfect?
Oh, right. Gotta be 'equal' and modern.
Another thing, the whole plot line about Pearl not liking Greg very much, that works so easily without Pearl having certain feelings for Rose that it didn't set red flags off in my head for a while.
It seems clear that Pearl has a slight prejudice against humans in general, and one of them suddenly coming into their lives, butting into the family, disrupting the order, Pearl would hate that.
She would hate him stealing Rose's attention, since they usually talk about everything, but she would also hate everything else he did, like the influence he was having on Amethyst and the disregard for the rules they'd had in place for 5,000 years.
Simply put, anything about PearlxRose doesn't even need to be there for the story to happen.
It's not a good sign when a plot point in your show could be cut out entirely and nothing would change.
Especially if that plot point goes against God's Word.
So, like with the rest of Christian Steven Universe, I want to recapture this part of the show in a pure way.
In my rewrite of We Need to Talk, I'm trying to capture all of the reasons Pearl didn't like Greg hanging around. And I'm going to make it clear that her intentions were not as the canon show portrayed them.
It really saddens me to see art be dampened by such unnecessary things.
Thank you again for reading. God Bless you and keep you :*
