I've been preparing an arrangement for a song I wrote five years ago, and I've really been convicted and am struggling with my lyrics. When I originally wrote them, they just flew onto the page and didn't really think about meanings--but now, because of my current life struggles--God is demanding that I trust Him. I am having such a hard time with this--and I've come to realize I really don't understand the concept, "God is Love." Not really. I just figured--maybe that's why these lyrics came out so fast! It wasn't me writing them! He was trying to make a point--to me. Utilizing my music writing because He knew that I would have to hear the lyrics over and over and over again.
I wrote the lyrics as if God were speaking to you. It starts like this:
Do you really know what love is?
Do you really know what's real?
I can see a heart thats broken.
I remember how that feels.
Are you lost in your misery--calloused to reality.
Pretending everythings perfect,
afraid what tomorrow might bring.
Chorus:
But I'll be by your side, by your side
Don't run away and hide from life.
I will lead the way, I'll keep you safe.
You'll never have to be alone anymore.
Put pretending in the past, I'll lead you home.
Let Me show you what true love is,
Love that heals and never wounds,
There is no need for masquerades,
Now that I am here with you,
You should never doubt tomorrow,
Or of what the future will bring,
No matter what might happen,
You can always count on one thing.
Chorus
