“The word of the Lord came to me a second time saying, ‘What do you see?’ And I said, ‘I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.’ Then the Lord said to me, ‘Out of the north the evil will break forth on all the inhabitants of the land. For, behold, I am calling all the families of the kingdoms of the north,’ declares the Lord; ‘and they will come and they will set each one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls round about and against all the cities of Judah. I will pronounce My judgments on them concerning all their wickedness, whereby they have forsaken Me and have offered sacrifices to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.’” (Jeremiah 1:13-16 NASB1995)
Jerusalem under the Old Covenant represented not only the Holy City but the people of God, Israel, God’s chosen people and his holy nation. Today the physical city of Jerusalem is no longer the Holy City of God, but she is of Hagar, the slave woman, because she is still in slavery with her children. And the Jews who did not believe in Jesus Christ were cut out of Israel and they are no longer God’s chosen people. God’s chosen people today are all who have, by faith in Christ, died with Christ to sin and who are walking in obedience to the Lord and to his commandments in daily practice, by God.

So, in our world today, if we were to apply this to the people of God today, in any specific location, with regard to the New Testament teachings on the judgments of God in these last days before the return of Christ, it would be no stretch at all to apply this to the church in the USA, where I live, and perhaps in other nations, as well. For the USA church, at large (not every congregation), has gone the way of the world. They have partnered with the world via incorporating (merging) with the state and via altering the gospel and the purpose of church to draw in large crowds from the world.
They have largely turned their gatherings into marketplaces to be marketed to the world just like other businesses, using worldly means and methods, marketing schemes, and business plans, in order to model “the church” after what the world is craving so that the world will be attracted to “the church” and want to be a part of her socially. But these market-driven “churches” are institutions of human design and purpose, and they are not the true church, the universal body of believers in Jesus Christ who by faith in Jesus have died to sin and who are walking in obedience to the Lord, by God’s grace.
For the purpose of the true church, the body of Christ, and her gatherings, is to be for mutual edification and encouragement and strengthening of our walks of faith in obedience to the Lord in holy living. Our gatherings are to be for the preaching of the word, prayer, biblical spiritual fellowship in the Lord, communion, and the sharing of spiritual gifts and ministries in our specific body parts (assignments) by God. We are to be ministering to one another and helping one another to walk worthy of the calling we have received from God to be his holy people, living to please our Lord always.
But, instead, so many gatherings of what are called “church” are all about attracting the world. In these gatherings, the church is usually not able to function as the body of Christ was designed by God to function. And the gospel message is being diluted to also attract people of the world and to be less offensive to human flesh. They have largely removed God’s commands which teach by faith in Jesus we must die to sin and obey his commands, in practice, and they have chosen a more friendly “gospel” which teaches a profession of faith alone secures them salvation and eternal life with God.
So, according to what the Scriptures teach about these last days before the return of Christ, and the judgments of God, the adulterous and idolatrous church is under the judgment of God for her wickedness in forsaking the ways of the Lord in order to chase after the sinful pleasures of the flesh and of the world. God says, “I will pronounce My judgments on them concerning all their wickedness, whereby they have forsaken Me and have offered sacrifices to other gods, and worshiped the works of their own hands.” The New Testament teaches the same, especially in Revelation 2-3.

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.
Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
