What do we seek each Sabbath morn?
What’s in God’s house to do?
When once in Christ we’ve been reborn
And through His blood made new
We place our faith in Christ’s report
Our hope in Jesus’ name
God’s holy will, must yet be sought
Till safely through The Flame
Yet some will say the church is cold
Her ancient rules severe
Like Esau, souls can soon be sold
Unless they draw Christ near
Of course the church can’t make us whole
Can’t free a man of sin
Nor can she save a shameful soul
That cares to venture in
Yet children that are steeped in prayer
However large or small
For endless life can now prepare
And answer to The Call
Religion cannot lead to life
Can’t open Heaven’s door
Can’t make God’s Son a perfect wife
From Satan’s wayward harlot
We need to drink the Well of grace
Consume God’s righteous Wine
Repent and leave the devil’s place
However chic and fine
Unless we curb our stubborn will
Unless we seek on high
Unless we climb The Father’s hill
Like fools we’ll surely die…
What’s in God’s house to do?
When once in Christ we’ve been reborn
And through His blood made new
We place our faith in Christ’s report
Our hope in Jesus’ name
